The entry period for ‘A Wedding WGN Morning News Style’ Contest runs from Wednesday, June 5th, 2013 to 12 noon on Friday, July 5, 2013 ("Entry Period"). The sponsors of this Contest are WGN-TV, Apple Vacations, United Auto Insurance, George Street Photo & Video, and WingStop. The Contest shall be subject to these Official Rules, and by entering, all participants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions herein.
1) NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
2) How to Enter: Only an eligible couple as set forth below ("Couple") may enter; no individual entries will be accepted. To enter, log on to wgntv.com/contest and click the ‘A Wedding WGN Morning News Style’ logo (the "Contest Website") during the Entry Period. Couple must complete and submit the official entry form along with a .jpg photo attachment (size 1MB or less) of the couple and the story of their love; why they should receive ‘A Wedding WGN Morning News Style,’ in 500 words or less. All entries must be submitted online, and received by 12 noon on Friday, July 5th. Participants may enter only as a Couple, and the limit is one entry per Couple. Sponsor's clock shall be the official clock of the Contest. WGN-TV may contact entrants to obtain additional pictures.
3) Eligibility: Both members of each Couple must be US citizens who are legal residents of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois, and Jasper, LaPorte, Lake, Newton and Porter Counties in Indiana who are 21 years or older as of June 5, 2013, engaged (or similarly committed as of June 5, 2013), not currently married, and planning a wedding ("Ceremony"). Couples must be willing and available to participate with staff from Sponsors in certain pre-Ceremony activities. If you are unwilling or unable to do so, do not enter this Contest. Winners who are unwilling or unable to do so will be disqualified, and all prizes shall be forfeited. Each member of the Couple must hold a valid U.S. passport by the time the honeymoon trip is taken, and have never been convicted of a crime of any nature (other than misdemeanor moving violations), and must have nothing in their background that would be an embarrassment to Sponsors as determined in their sole discretion. Each member of the Couple must also be willing to authorize, undergo, and cooperate with a background check if requested by Sponsors. Employees (and the employees' immediate family members and those living in the same household) of the Sponsors and their advertising companies, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, promotion and delivery contractors and/or public relations companies, are not eligible to participate. Each member of the Couple may be required to demonstrate that all eligibility requirements are met. THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW AND OUTSIDE the aforementioned Illinois and Indiana counties.
4) Finalist Selection: A panel of judges from WGN-TV will judge entries based on the following criteria: creativity, 33%; enthusiasm, 34%; and the most compelling story, 33%. The couple with the highest score will be named The Winning Couple. Entrants agree that WGN-TV has the sole right to determine the winner of the contest and all matters or disputes arising from the contest and that its determination is final and binding
5) Required Documentation: Each member of The Winning Couple will be required to sign and return the forms of Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and Publicity Release provided by Sponsors and such other documents as are required by Sponsors. Failure to return all such documents set forth herein within two days of receipt of same will result in the Winning Couple being disqualified and another Winning Couple may be selected from remaining eligible entries, based on the criteria set forth above. The Winning Couple will be required to provide proof that they are currently not married and must be willing to obtain a marriage license to confirm they can be married prior to the July 26th ceremony.
6) Winning Couple Notification and Announcement: The Winning Couple will be notified by e-mail or telephone on or about Wednesday July 8, 2013. Winners must respond to notification within twenty-four (24) hours after the notification is sent or the Winning Couple will be disqualified and an alternate Winning Couple may be selected from remaining eligible entries, based on the criteria set forth above. If one or both members of a Winning Couple do not fulfill the eligibility requirements, if one or both members of a Winning Couple do not adhere to the Official Rules, or if the prize notification is returned as undeliverable, that Winning Couple will be disqualified, and all prizes will be forfeited. The Winning Couple must be able to appear on WGN Morning News on Friday, July 26, and be available to get married on the morning of July 26, 2013 at the WGN-TV studios and attend the reception that will run during WGN Morning News in Studio 2.
7) Prize: Grand Prize consists of 1) the Ceremony live on WGN Morning News (July 26th, 2013), 2) a reception at the WGN-TV Studios with food from WingStop (between 8-9am), 3) the honeymoon, and the services of a wedding photographer and a 30-page wedding photo album, 12 x 12 fine art album valued at (ARV:$950). Reception for up to 65 guests will be held at the WGN-TV Studios during the WGN Morning News on July 26, 2013. Food and drink for the ceremony provided by WingStop (ARV: $575). The honeymoon must be taken by December 10, 2013 and will consist of a seven-night trip from Apple Vacations to IBEROSTAR Paraiso del Mar, in Riviera Maya, Mexico, for two adults departing from O’Hare International Airport, Chicago. Trip includes seven-night accommodations, round-trip charter air, transfers to/from resort, non-motorized watersports, all food/drinks and the assistance of an in-resort Apple Representative. Taxes, insurance and additional expenses (such as optional excursions, spa treatments, phone calls, souvenirs) are the sole responsibility of the winners (ARV: $3,000). Prizes are not assignable, transferable or redeemable for cash. Once booked, travel dates are final and will not be extended and cannot be changed. Travel is not permitted during holiday periods specified by Apple Vacations including both five (5) days prior and after specified holidays. Other blackout dates may apply. No room or airline upgrades. Federal, state and local taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winners, who will receive a 1099 tax form reflecting the actual value of the prize. Total ARV: $4,525.
All expenses not specifically listed herein are the responsibility of the Winning Couple. ARV (approximate retail value) amounts above are estimates only and winners will not be entitled to compensation if the actual amount varies from the ARV. Scheduled appearances on WGN News programs are subject to cancellation without notice due to breaking news or other developments.
8) Other Conditions of Entry: Each Couple member represents and warrants as follows: that the essay is the original creation of one or both members of the Couple, has not been copied in whole from any other work, has not been previously published, has not been previously submitted in another contest, does not violate the rights of any other person or company (including but not limited to privacy rights and copyrights), as determined by Sponsors. Essays must be in English. Essays that do not comply with these Official Rules shall be disqualified. Entrants agree to indemnify, defend and hold Sponsors harmless against any and all liabilities, losses, damages, claims, debts, investigations, fines, penalties, costs, expenses and settlements (including attorneys' fees and costs of litigation, settlement, judgment, interest and penalties) arising out of or related to a breach of the foregoing representations and warranties. All entries become the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned or acknowledged. Entrants grant to Sponsors a world-wide, perpetual license to use their Essays, photos and appearance on WGN Morning News in any manner related to the Contest, without prior notice, approval or compensation, including but not limited to the first right to publish the Essays and photos in whole or in part in any medium. Winners are responsible for cancelling any prior arrangements at their own expense to accommodate the wedding events schedule.
9) Release: By entering, each Couple member, agrees to release, waive, and hold harmless Sponsors and their affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, prize providers, advertising and promotional agencies, and all of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, and liability arising from injuries, damages, costs, or expenses of any kind (including without limitation attorney's fees) incurred as a result of the contestant’s participation in this Contest and/or acceptance, use, or misuse of the prizes.
10) Publicity: By entering this Contest, each Couple member agrees to allow use of their name, voice, photograph, likeness, video appearance and any information provided on the entry form, and their essays, in any medium of communication, including but not limited to print, Internet, radio and/or television and for any purpose, including advertising, promotional or other purposes, by Sponsors and their licensees and affiliates, without additional compensation. Entrants also agree to participate in all activities WGN-TV may request to publicize the Contest.
11) Internet: Sponsors are not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any Contest-related materials; for entries that are lost, late, misdirected, deleted, incomplete, inaccurate, or garbled or entries that are processed, reported, or transmitted late or incorrectly or are lost for any reason, including computer, telephone, paper transfer, human or other error, or for electronic, computer or telephonic malfunction or error, including inability to access the Contest website, or process any transaction thereon. If for any reason this Contest is not capable of running as planned, or if this Contest or any web site associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper administration of the Contest and processing of entries in accordance with these Official Rules, or if infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in the Sponsors' opinion, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, the Sponsors reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Contest or any portion thereof. In the event this Contest is cancelled during the Entry Period, the judges panel will select three Finalist Couples applying the criteria set forth above to all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. In the event this Contest is cancelled during the voting for the Winning Couple, the Winning Couple will be the Couple with the most valid, non-suspect votes received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. If such cancellation, termination, modification, or suspension occurs, notification will be posted on the Contest website. ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE (INCLUDING THE ENTRY SITE) OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
