1. TO ENTER: No purchase necessary. To submit a recipe entry, log onto wgntv.com/contest during the entry period between Monday, May 12, 2014 to Sunday June 1, 2014 by 11:59pm and click on the “Meijer Midday Recipe Contest” logo to complete and submit the registration form which will request name, address, age, email and phone number along with the recipe (10 ingredients or less) and a digital photo of entrant holding their dish of the finished food item. Limit one entry per person, per email. Recipes submitted for WGNtv.com's Meijer Midday Recipe Contest must feature one recipe only. All entries must be submitted online, and received within the entry period. Incomplete entries and entries not submitted in accordance with these rules will be disqualified. WGN-TV will disqualify any entry that violates the rights of any other person or entity (including but not limited to copyrights), and/or contain offensive, defamatory, vulgar or profane content, as determined by WGN-TV.
Entries become the property of WGN and will not be returned. WGN is not responsible for lost, incomplete, damaged, illegible, late, or misdirected entries, or for errors in mechanical transmission, technical or wireless difficulties or inability to transmit Internet entries.
2. ENTRY DEADLINE: The entry period for the contest starts Monday, May 12, 2014 at noon and ends Sunday June 1, 2014 by 11:59 p.m.
3. SELECTION OF WINNERS:
GRAND PRIZE WINNER: On Monday, June 2, 2014 all qualifying photos and recipes will be posted on WGNtv.com. Viewers will be invited to vote for the best recipe entry in one round of voting, from June 2, 2014 at 3pm to June 22, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. All decisions regarding the administration of this contest by WGN-TV will be final and binding.
The recipe/photo with the highest number of votes at the end of this voting round will be deemed the Grand Prize Winner, subject to eligibility confirmation and compliance with these rules. The Grand Prize Winner will be notified by phone on or about June 23, 2014. The Winner of the Meijer Midday Recipe Contest will appear on the Midday News along with a Meijer Chef to create their “winning” recipe during the week of June 30, 2014- July 6, 2014 (date to be announced by WGN-TV). The winner must be available to be present when Meijer Chef demonstrates the winning recipe on the WGN Midday News on the specified date. WGN will not be responsible for transporting the winner to the WGN-TV studios for the Midday News appearance.
If the winner is determined to be ineligible, cannot be reached within 72 hours, cannot attend the live Midday News broadcast, or otherwise fails to comply with these Official Rules, winner shall be disqualified, and the first runner up (i.e., the entrant with the next highest number of votes earned during the Voting Round) shall be deemed the winner, subject to confirmation of eligibility and compliance with these rules.
DAILY VOTER PRIZES: Each day at noon, one ‘registered voter’ will be drawn at random from all registrations received to date, and will be awarded a $25 gift card to Meijer. Any participant who votes is eligible for the daily $25 gift card prize. Voters are only eligible to win one of the daily voter prizes during the voting period.
Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received for the daily prize, and depend on online voting totals, for the grand prize. Winner will be notified by telephone within a week of winning the prize. In the event a winner cannot be contacted within one week or in the event that a winner is not eligible, the next entrant will be selected and deemed the winner. All decisions regarding the administration of this contest made by WGN-TV are final and binding. Only one prize will be awarded per household.
4. ONLINE VOTING: Viewers may vote by visiting wgntv.com, and clicking on the Meijer Midday Summer Recipe Contest link at any time during the voting period. Voting requires online registration which includes your name and email address. Viewers may vote up to 10 times per day per registered user, but automated means of voting are prohibited. WGN is not responsible for lost, incomplete, damaged, illegible, late, or misdirected votes, or for errors in mechanical transmission, technical difficulties or inability to transmit votes. Please note: neither partial nor final voting results (other than the name of the winner) will be announced.
5. PRIZES: There will be one Grand Prize Winner. The Grand Prize consists of: one (1) Meijer gift card for $500. In addition, the winning entrant will have his/her recipe made by a Meijer Chef, live on the air, on WGN Midday News. Winner will be invited to WGN-TV for the segment.
WGN will also be giving away weekday “daily voter prizes” (a total of 15, one per weekday during the voting period, valued at $25 each).
The grand prize will be forfeited if the winner fails to claim prize by deadline, fails to execute the prepared forms of release and waiver, or if the selected winner is not eligible in accordance with these rules. Prizes are not assignable or transferable. Federal, state and local taxes, if any, are solely the responsibility of the winner. Winners will be required to come to WGN –TV to pick up the prize at 2501 W. Bradley Place, Chicago, IL 60618 within 15 days of notification.
6. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS:
a. This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Employees of WGN-TV, Meijer and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising/promotion agencies, and members of their immediate families, are not eligible to participate.
b. Entrants must be legal residents of Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois, and Jasper, LaPorte, Lake, Newton and Porter Counties in Indiana who are 18 years and older at the time of entry. Voters must be 13 years of older at the time of the voting period.
c. Entrants who have won a prize from WGN-TV since December 29, 2013 are ineligible and will be ineligible for the grand prize
7. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
a. Use of name, etc.: By entering, each entrant grants permission, without further compensation, to the Contest Sponsors, their agents and licensees, to use the entrant’s name, voice, personal photograph, likeness and biographical material, and the submitted recipe and photo, for promotional purposes in connection with the contest.
b. Execution of Affidavit and Release: By entering, each entrant agrees that if selected as the winner, he/she will sign WGN’s prepared form of release and waiver of liability. The prize will be forfeited and awarded to another entrant if the winner does not execute the prepared form of release and waiver within thirty days of receipt.
c. Release of Liability: By entering, entrants agree to release Contest Sponsors from any claim, loss, liability, damage or injury of any kind arising from their participation in the contest, or their receipt or use of the contest prize, and any contest-related travel or activity.
d. Prize Substitutions: No substitute prizes are available. Prizes are non-transferable and may not be redeemed for cash.
e. Warranties: By entering, each entrant warrants and represents that his/her recipe and photo are the entrant’s own original creations, and do not violate the rights of any other person or entity (including but not limited to copyrights and trademarks). WGN reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it determines, in its sole judgment, that any entrant has violated this warranty in any respect.
8. INTERNET/FORCE MAJEURE: If for any reason, this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the contest, WGN-TV reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the Contest or any portion of the Contest. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST. Information submitted in Internet entries, including entrant's name, address, e-mail address, etc, shall become the property of WGN-TV, and may be used by WGN-TV for marketing or promotional purposes. Contest shall be governed and enforced pursuant to Illinois law, excluding choice of law provisions.
